Parishioners On Patrol Saginaw

Bringing Peace to the Streets
Our Founders
FOUNDERS
Councilman Amos O'Neal and Pastor Larry Camel are the co-founders of Parishioners on Patrol.

These two men had a vision of Saginaw as a safe place for families to live, work, play and learn. To date the initiative has grown to over 100 members strong. These Christian men and women work together with the Saginaw Police Department to combat the crime and violence in the streets of Saginaw.

Our  members are committed to a nonviolent means to bring peace to the streets of Saginaw by reinforcing love and respect for human life.

Pastor Larry "Hurricane" Camel

Pastor Camel is the Pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, a community based church located at 1418 S. Warren. He began his ministry on October 31, 1999 at First Ward Center. In 2001 New Birth moved to its current location and his ministry has continued to prosper and grow.

His
recent accomplishments include co-founding Parishioners on Patrol which is a faith-based organization working in partnership with the Saginaw Police Department to help reduce crime and violence in our community. Parishioners on Patrol has swept this community with their involvement with mentoring youth at Webber Middle School and St. Paul Townhouse, food distributions at CC Coulter School and Stone School, literacy training at St. Paul Townhouse, and patrolling the streets evangelizing to citizens of
Saginaw.

Pastor Camel has received the Key to the City award twice and
most recently in September received the Community Service Award from the Saginaw Branch of the NAACP. Also on January 19, 2009 Pastor Camel received the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity Award, presented to the Parishioners on Patrol for their efforts and contributions in keeping "Dr. King’s dream alive". His commitment to working with youth and changing the attitudes of young people is evident in the founding
and organizing of the Next Generation of Leaders youth group, the youth arm of Parishioners on Patrol.

Pastor
Camel is instrumental in training and developing spiritual maturity in the minds of the believer through dynamic teaching and inspiration.

He is the devoted husband of First Lady Shirley J. Camel and the father of two lovely daughters, Beyonca and Jasmine.
